Divergent, by Veronica Roth

Yet another in the apparently endless series of dytopian novels for older YAs. This one has strong world-building, a high-powered plot, and characters with a notable story arc, but it did not sweep me off my feet the way Hunger Games did, perhaps because this genre has become so familiar so fast. If you or your older teen like this kind of thing, it’s certainly not as violent as Hunger Games, though it has a more daredevil edge to it. And there is a strong female lead, which is always a plus.
