Keeping the Castle, by Patrice Kindl

A wonderfully droll narrator leads us into a delightful story, subtitled A Tale of Romance, Riches, and Real Estate. Althea and her mother and young brother and two snotty stepsisters live in the Crooked Castle on, well, no money at all. Their only hope is for the lovely Althea, our narrator, to marry well. So when Lord Boring and several of his friends become neighbors with our heroine, she knows her duty. Complications ensue, and they are filled with humor and creativity. The book made me laugh out loud repeatedly and is appropriate for 14 and up. Highly recommended.
