A Kiss at Midnight, by Eloisa James

Turning Cinderella into a bodice-ripper is an interesting choice, and pays off for this wonderful romance novel. Prince Gabriel, who is visiting Regency England, is resigned to marrying a woman he has never met until he meets Kate, who is masquerading as her stepsister, complete with brightly colored wigs and small yappy dogs.

Author James comes up with one wonderful scene after another, as our hero and heroine slowly fall for each other. There are great supporting characters as well, including the evil stepmother and the prince’s dreamy brother. Great fun all around. And despite its fairy tale origins, this is plenty steamy – for 18 and up.
